[Okay, so. He'd been en route to Midgar with Cloud. With a motorcycle, it had been awesome. And they'd been making good progress! Sure, he wasn't all that certain about directions, but being underground for so long can screw with a guy a little. There's no helping it. He'd been in a pretty good mood, though.

So if things had been going well for the first time in ages, why did he wake up this morning and find himself in the woods, alone and unarmed, in a fresh pair of white pants that didn't belong to him? It meant he hadn't been captured, since he wasn't in the lab, so... what? Seriously, what?

More importantly, where is Cloud!?

There's a sense of panic he hasn't felt since the troopers in Nibelheim had first started dragging Cloud away from him, so he wastes no time getting up and heading off to get a look around. If the military isn't responsible for this, maybe Cloud just wandered off (somehow) after whoever it was had taken Zack out. Man, so much for life getting easier...

tl;dr Zack will be ducking around the village early-ish in the morning, trying to make the most of the late November sunrise by doing his best ninja impression. He's trying not to be seen, but how effective he is at doing so? Really depends. SOLDIERs are sadly not ninjas.]

[ Oh, Zack, you are so not ninja. But, why point it out and ruin someone's day? Instead, Shino just sits on one of the benches and watches him try to dodge around buildings. ]

[Cloud's going to stalk this suspicious person for a while before speaking up. There's something familiar about him...]

[Giles is coming down the stairs of C4 that morning when...hm?

...it takes until Zack next ducks into the light, but he does manage to spot him. And the New Feather garb.]

It may take him a bit, but he would be a lousy SOLDIER if he didn't know when someone's watching him. ...Even if he is out of practice. So after a little while he turns his head just right and- oh. That's not good, he's been spotted. By a strange girl, no less! ~~Oh well, at least she's cute~~ There isn't much he can do about it now, so with a cautious wave, he steps out.]

[sdhjkfhkjfs WHAT WHAT where did that come fro- ...oh. Someone's talking- ...to...

...him. Hold on a second. There's no mistaking this guy. Zack just sort of stares at Cloud, eyes - mako eyes, HEY CLOUD DOES THAT HELP - wide. It's not a surprise to see Cloud, no. It's a surprise to see Cloud walking, and talking, and acting like he hasn't been in a mako-induced coma for Shiva knows how long.]

[If Yuri saw anyone else in New Feather clothes attempting to ninja around the village, he'd probably just watch them for a while, wait to see if anyone helps them, then wander off.

But in this case? He'll be stopping his little walk and calling out. The way Zack's acting doesn't bode well in the "does he remember" front, but still.]

... Zack?

[Another guy who knows him. Great. At least this one is pretty familiar?

The glow of mako is a lot more obvious when it's not even dawn yet, and it makes Cloud tilt his head and squint; this guy must be from home. He's really familiar. He knows he's met this one before.]

That's me.

[Ack! Caught. Zack pauses for a moment, considering his options, then relaxes his posture and lifts a hand. Better to play it cool, since the guy's not charging him with a gun. He really needs to get out of that paranoid phase.]

Oh, uh, hey! Don't mind me, I'm just out for a walk.

Yes, I can see that.

Shino smiles at him, tilting her head to the side. Seems like he's figured out the ninja bit doesn't work too much. She raises her hand and waves back. ]

[People watching him? Makes him nervous, but that's okay. People talking to him? Still not great just yet, but he can deal. Someone calling his name? That usually means someone who recognizes him and wants to take him back to the lab. That is most definitely not good. So Zack's immediate reaction is to turn to face Yuri warily, taking a stance that looks like a cross between ready to fight and ready to run, with Zack still deciding what to do.]

Who are you? Are you with Shinra?

[Zack needs a few seconds for this to really sink in. Unfortunately he doesn't give himself those few seconds, instead dashing towards Cloud with an expression that can only be described as gleeful.]

Cloud! You're okay- you're awake!

[Blink. Blink. Luceti?]

That's not ringing any bells. Is it a new village? [He glances around. No mako reactor... oh geez, if it is new, he just made himself look like a total recluse by not knowing.]

A map? You got one? [That would help, actually. He really has no idea where to go. At least the mountains in the distance are definitely not the Nibelheim area peaks.]

[... Definitely doesn't remember, just like Cloud. Great. But unlike with Cloud, Zack's not someone he wants to mess with, so it's time to do a little damage control attempt and hope it works.]

Relax -- I'm not with Shinra. I don't even know who that is.

[Or ... what. He's not sure if Shinra's a person or a group or whatever. He can't really remember whether Zack ever mentioned it around him, either, but he's got a feeling that his not-knowing in this case might be beneficial.]

[WHOA-

A man built like a linebacker rushing at Cloud's face startles him out of digging around for memories and he stumbles back a couple steps, hand automatically flying to grip the hilt of the Ultima Weapon at his back, his other palm-out in warning. But then his words catch up and Cloud takes his hand off his sword, though still attempting to put distance between the two of them.]

Yeah, I'm awake! Who're you?

[Giles does. He opens his journal, flips a few pages, and then passes over the much-folded map he keeps.]

It's a place that no one really knows from the start, I think. We all end up here from different places.

[For the moment that only serves to confuse Zack, though that's a step up from tense-and-angry-animal attitude.]

How could you not know Shinra? They're all over the world!

[Was this guy playing him, or was he even more out of the loop than Zack?]

[Zack halts when Cloud reaches for his sword, stunned by that motion alone. Add to that his words...

...and Zack feels his throat close off, expression shifting to one of startled disappointment. He doesn't remember?]

Cloud... it's Zack. I'm Zack.

Maybe in your world, but not this one. [Or his, but considering the way Zack's acting, breaking this whole thing to him little by little seems like the best plan.]

...Huh? [Now she's really lost him, oh dear. What, did Shinra go around inviting people from different areas to live here?]

Uh... do you have one of the world, too? I'm trying to get to Midgar.

Maybe I should start over... [ Shino laughs a bit. Oops. ] Luceti is a place where people from all different worlds are brought. Most likely I'm not from the same world you're from.
