[Voice / Action]
[This has been a hell of a month for departures and bad news, apparently. Zack hates to add to the misery, but it's gotta be done.]
...Aerith Gainsborough's gone home. She didn't leave anything, but... if you were friends, you know how she felt.
Good Spirits is self-serve tonight. Sorry, guys.
[And Zack will be at Good Spirits for most of the day after that, serving himself. Despite the melancholy of his announcement, his mood will be switching between quiet and downright celebratory all night long. Coping, who's coping?
He also has company: a strange-looking winged dog, standing guard quietly at his back the entire time he's there.]

[action] I'm glad my existence is so fulfilling for you
You saw that? I wouldn't exactly call it mourning, though. She didn't die.
[Not... that he knows that.]
[action] you bet your britches it's fulfilling
[Actually there are a lot of differences between the two but all the differences are silly, petty little mortal ones that Castiel doesn't personally have to worry about considering they don't apply to the big picture.
...no but really he just read your mind, Zack. Sorry about that.
This is Castiel's idea of being comforting. Can you tell he doesn't do it often?]
[action] as long as it's not filling your britches it's cool
Most people would say there's a big difference, actually. I mean, if you're just separated from someone, there's still a chance you might see them again.
[action]
[Okay so the chances are real slim, but it's still there.]
[action]
[The Lifestream, as far as he knows, isn't the sort of fluffy, your-loved-ones-are-waiting afterlife that people like to dream of.]
[action]
[Castiel tucks the whiskey inside of his coat, where it vanishes.]
Is she your lover?
[action]
No, no! Well- she was my ex, I guess. But that was a long time ago. We're friends.
[action]
[action]
Yeah... she is. Like family.
[action]
It's one he usually drinks, stronger than average for the SOLDIER types.]
[action]
Are you some kind of mind reader? Because that's really creepy.

[Cas gets a glass. Cracks open the bottle he set on the counter for Zack and pours out a small amount.]
[action]
[action]
[action]
[If people don't believe in them much, then they're probably rare, right? At least, that's his guess.]
[action]
Eugh. Too much to think about. Cas turns the topic around so he doesn't have to talk about it anymore.] You're familiar with the need to keep secrets.
[action]
Are you digging around up there, or just making a guess at it?
[action]
[action]
Well, uh... you're not wrong, I guess. I'm usually not so obvious about it though.
[action]
Cas takes a swig of the drink, but stops, swallows slowly and looks at the bottle very sharply. Then he looks at Zack. The drink is...it has something in it, something off. And not just because it's strong.]
[action]
Hey, look- be careful with that stuff. I don't know how angels deal with drugs or chemicals, but there's something in there that's really dangerous to most people.
[action]
What is this?
[action]
I don't think it ever got an official name. We kinda just call it the SOLDIER Special. It has mako in it- the stuff that makes my eyes like this.
[He points two fingers towards his eyes, both obviously glowing with the unnatural internal light that regulars at the bar have grown accustomed to seeing by now.]
