I think Strife hit the nail on the head. Unless you are rushing off to save someone, you are perfectly incapable of seeing your own worth.

It is understandable, I suppose. You were so very young when you were accepted into SOLDIER, but that is precisely why the program usually does not take young applicants. They tend place too much importance on the wrong things.
