Passed it again, huh. I keep losing track... wonder if it's a good thing.

....

Hey, so... does anybody have a particular day - or more than one, I guess - that means something to them? Not their birthday or a holiday or anything like that, I mean a regular, normal day where something important or significant happened to them. Could be good or bad, whatever.

[Zack's in a weird mood today, for... various reasons. He's also lounging in the hammock outside House 50, enjoying it while he can before the cold weather forces him to take it down, so if you happen to be in the area, feel free to bother him that way instead.]

Huh. That's pretty useful fix, then.

Why not? I mean the thing apparently is a universal power source. I mean I can get if people get negative reactions to it in terms of personal exposure, but the plants have to be a godsend depending on the emissions it gives of.

[...] I guess that sort of thing would happen with any major energy source. [Creatures though? That's intense and slightly interesting-]

It can mutate people like that?

Yeah, like with people's fears about nuc. There's not a lot of the extreme cases you like to see in movies and books.

Nuclear power. It's less of a chemical and more of the energy you get from radiation given off when you split an atom. I doubt the principle is at all similar of mako's really a chemical, but the basic fears you're mentioning seem similar. Plus it's kinda a catch-all in terms of power in the same way.

Unless you're not thinking outside the box enough. Maybe the barrier's powered with thought or imagination or something.

[identity profile] god-is-a-dude.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Like say the ambient "energy" which is generated when we as humans think is somehow harnessed and put into some sort of "imagination" reactor.

Not really; think about is cosmically! Cos-mic-cal-ly! Your planet uses mako to power things which I've never heard of, we use nuclear power which you've never heard of - among other things - some other worlds might use other things. For someone here, the idea of thoughts powering things might be totally normal.

No, no, that's just stupid. The experiments are clearly a Shift and the Shifts are probably caused by them. I bet the barrier is by us.

[identity profile] god-is-a-dude.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
There's different extents of them - personal ones and ones they generate with machines. Other that that... hm.

[identity profile] god-is-a-dude.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
I doubt it's just that. It's probably more like... [A long pause and then his tone drops a bit with-] belief, maybe.

[identity profile] god-is-a-dude.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
Well it's it too easy for it to be "you dream it, it happens?" You probably need to make yourself believe that something will happen.
