Hey Buffy, Meryl, got a question. There's a guy who came to Luceti a few months ago, Shizuo- he fell on the fountain, if you were around for that. He wants to work at the bar, and I said it'd be okay if he worked during my shifts. If you guys don't mind, I mean- let me know if it's a problem.

[Zack'll be chilling out in Good Spirits for a good chunk of today, and he's really looking to socialize for a distraction, so COME SOCIALIZE. Yes.]

[Zack doesn't really question his patrons, so he just lifts a hand to greet the man, lazily sipping at a beer.]

Welcome to Good Spirits! Can I get you a drink, or are you just here to chill?

[Zack, bartenders aren't supposed to drink their own wares. :| Then again, in this situation, it's forgiven.]

I'd like a glass of wine, if you don't mind. Any kind is fine.

[What, it's not like he can get drunk anyway :|]

Any kind, really? There's probably a few dozen flavours back there.

In that case, I'll just have to trust your judgment as to which ones are the best, unless you're willing to let me sample all of them.

[He will, too.]

Well, it'd be a waste to open all those bottles. Let me see if I can pick one that suits you, okay?

[He heads on into the back, perusing the selection for a moment before picking a raisin dessert wine and bringing it back to the front. He pours a glass for Richard and slides it down with a grin.]

See how you like that one.

[Richard swirls the wine in the glass for a moment, studying it before taking a curious sip.

... yes, he's even classy when he plans on getting wasted. Old habits are hard to break. But he's quick to smile after another sip; apparently Zack made a good choice.]

Great! I'll keep the bottle out, then.

[Always nice to have a satisfied customer.]

...So! I'm Zack, by the way. Nice to meet you.

Richard. It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Sir Zack. This is the first time I've seen you working here before-- a new job, perhaps?

[Not that Richard has really been in Good Spirits all that often, but.]

[Zack blinks at the formality, then waves a hand with a laugh.] You don't need to call me "sir"! Sounds way too stuffy. And no, actually- I've been working here for a while now. [A pause.] ...Whoa, has it been seven months already?

Zack, then.

[Now it's Richard's turn to blink, then laugh, setting his now-empty glass down.]

Is that so? I'm going to have to make it a habit to come here more often if I can't even remember who the bartenders are.

Hey, the bar is also tended by a pair of lovely ladies. I wouldn't blame you for forgetting a face like mine with that kind of service.

I'm afraid I don't particularly remember their faces either.

Whaaaat? That's practically criminal! Well now you have to come back, man!

[He laughs.] I think I'd be more likely to remember your face than I would theirs.

[Don't make him spell it out, Zack.]

Well, as long we're not all forgettable, that's fine.

That all depends on how good the service is.

[No, he's not flirting, no worries. He IS, however, holding out his empty glass to indicate that he'd like more.]

In that case I'd better keep up the quality. [Message received, Zack casually takes the glass and gives him a refill, offering it back.] So is there any special occasion for the visit, or were you just in the mood for some wine?

Just the same occasion that I suspect brings most of the other patrons here tonight.

[It's not hard to guess what he means by that.]

It has been a while since I've last tried anything new, however. My housemates aren't exactly the drinking type. [And most of them are underage anyway.]

Ah, yeah. It's been kind of a rough week for just about everybody.

[Well, it's no good to dwell on the matter. ANd because he's nosy-]

Friends from home or people you met here?

Both, now. [His eyes grow a bit distant for the briefest moment.] That's one of the amazing things about this place, don't you think? That we can meet people from such different worlds.

Yeah, it is pretty great that we get that! If we could only meet people from our own worlds, it would probably be pretty lonely around here.

But at the same time, you would never have to worry about not being able to see friends again either.

...That sucks, yeah. Good thing this place doesn't advertise as a paradise.

Still, there are things that could be worse.

[But this conversation is turning too depressing for Richard's liking, especially since he came here to forget about all of those things. Smiling now!]

I'll have to bring my friend along the next time I come here. I'm sure he would enjoy such a large selection.

Feel free! We're open most afternoons, and you don't even go broke during binge drinking sessions. It's a nice set-up for people who like to drink a lot.
