[Ah, yeah. Cloud can figure the reason behind that easily enough. His drink arrives and he sips from it.] ...sorry, Zack.

It's alright. It's for Tifa, and she more than deserves a chance to have you around. We can't exactly monopolize you. [He looks down at that, swishing his own drink a bit. He learned that one the hard way.]

[Cloud tilts his head to observe Zack over the rim of his glass.]

...Zack, what's wrong?

...Feeling kinda guilty, I guess. [He smiles faintly.] Tifa kinda bit my head off for making assumptions.

Assumptions about what? [Though Cloud can guess what -or who- they were about. Tifa usually doesn't bite people's heads off, after all.]

About you, I guess. [Sigh.] Remember when we talked about you maybe going to see John... and I said I'd go down into the tunnels to wait for you?

Yeah. [Cloud had actually been vaguely hurt when he'd remembered later, if a little grateful at the same time. As well as-

I was going to go. But Tifa said she wanted to go, and we... sort of argued about it. She won. [By a landslide, at that.]

Well, I figured she would. [Tifa usually won the arguments she chose to have. Swig.]

Mm. [Zack swirls his drink again, looking kind of lost in thought. He's been brooding too much lately.]

[Cloud watches him, then downs the rest of his drink in a gulp and slides off the stool, grabbing Zack's arm.] C'mon.

[adshkf wat. Zack blinks, abandoning his own drink as Cloud carts him off.] Whoa, hey! I thought you wanted to drink!

[Cloud finds one of the booths off to the side, pushing Zack into the cushion and shoving the table aside with his hip, yanking the curtain shut. There wasn't anyone out there to watch, but no need to tempt fate.

From there he promptly climbed atop of Zack to straddle his lap and kissed him. Shut up.]

[Yeah, kneeling on the cushion isn't luxuriously comfortable and the table's digging into the small of his back (though on the plus side, the limited space means he has to press really close to Zack). They're in a public place and Cloud's still having a couple trust issues, but this is Zack and this is important, so he just grips his hair and kisses him harder.

After a minute of that he pulls back, breathing hard, eyes still closed.] I'm running out of ideas to get you to cheer the hell up.

[Zack shudders as Cloud pulls back for air, hands lifting to grip the other man's clothes.] ...'m sorry. I just... want everything to be okay. It's been a long time.

I can't tell you about anything else, but you and me? We're fine. [It's the smoothest lie Cloud's ever told, and he decides to let his lips do the rest of the talking against Zack's.]

[So smooth that for once, Zack doesn't see through it, giving up on talking or brooding or whatever and just kissing back. That's nice.]

That goes on for a while until Cloud pulls back for air again, panting and red.]

[Hold on. Zack needs a minute because holy shit. Breathe. Breathe... swallow...]

[Feeling a little proud of himself for rattling Zack so much -and pretty damn anxious to get this underway himself- Cloud climbs up off of him (kissing him once more and biting his lip for good measure as he does so) and shoves the curtain open.] Then let's go.

[Zack's not about to wait around; as soon as Cloud gets up, he's ready to follow. That was pretty damned intense, and he's keen on getting more of that ASAP. |D]

[Skippity skip, they're back at House 50. Guess who's not wasting any time and just yanks Zack inside the house, waiting just long enough to shut the door before kissing him again?

Zack's not complaining, though, shoving Cloud against the door and returning the kiss roughly. Someone's been a little frustrated for the past week or two.]

[Cloud groans, not even complaining about Zack snatching the upper hand from him, one hand at the back of Zack's neck and the other buried in his hair. Someone else has been pretty frustrated, too. A nice roll in the hay should fix some frayed nerves, and they can both go back to being reasonable, rational humans beings.]
